Description
This blackout design is printed with the fern and stars in grey and there is no colour such as red in the stars. It is designed for a blackout look and works especially well on standard size blackout plates. The number plate frame has wings that extent it to cover the holes where a European number plate has been. The frame fits standard sized NZ number plates which are 125mm tall and 360mm long. With this surround fitted a 520mm long space is covered which hides the mounting holes for European plates on imported cars. The design is printed directly onto the plastic, so no stickers are used.
This size winged frame has an optional backing plate that is sold separately. The backing plate enables the ends of the frame to be pulled in tight to a curved front bumper. It also enables the plate and frame to be attached to the vehicle using existing holes rather than needing to make new holes for the screws.
These frames are a fully legal alternative to personalised European sized plates which cost hundreds of dollars. Don’t waste your money buying European sized plates from overseas as they are not legal in New Zealand even if they have the correct registration number for the vehicle. Police and Parking Wardens issue a $200 instant fine for vehicles with licence plates that do not have the silver fern in the reflective background of the plate. These frames work with your standard size legal plates, so you don’t risk getting fined.
